With the reputation this part of the world has, we came prepared to have to fight for our purpose. People have smiling faces, but closed hearts. We have been here for a total of five weeks, but have seen amazing things already. Equal to none, was our weekend trip to the Sticky Waterfall. It is a waterfall that isn't sticky as much as not slippery. In actuality it is some sort of funky limestone that feels like you are walking on hard felt. They call it sticky because there is traction that can aid anyone's climbing ability. Even though gravity is still your enemy, as you are pushed three hundred feet down the mountain, the unusual texture helps you counteract this natural phenomena, called gravitation, by giving you friction so that your lowest appendages (i.e. your feet or in a few cases knees and the occasional bottom, when the sticky turned slippery) stick to the rock.
We were also able to introduce them to kickball and s’mores. Ultimate Frisbee is a favorite of the group, so they quickly got bored of kickball in favor of that. The waterfall was great, but the best part of the trip was the purpose we went. It was a group of local and non-local believers and seekers spending time to get to know each other and to learn about the Creator. In fact, it was a planned trip to "dunk" three new believers.
Prior to the dunking, we held a service near a sacred spring. The people of our country believe that this spring has cleansing waters. People drink the water for good luck. They offer the water to the spirits. It was there we saw the victory. As we praised Him aloud, people visited the spring for their cleansing. They would glance over at us suspiciously, wondering what we were singing about. Then they all heard our praise to HIM.
After the service, we went to the top of the waterfall where a pool of knee-deep multi-colored water had collected. The depth was perfect for what we had planned for it. Three people were to be dunked here. In the meantime, a Korean girl could not speak the local language. So L began to share with her what was told during the service. L asked her if she believed. She responded that she did. She joyfully gave the Father the reins of her life. After that an local young man was talking to one of our colleagues. He said that he believed too. He then immediately surrendered his life to Him.
What a joy it is to see the darkness falling all around us. He is at work opening hearts that have been closed for hundreds of years. He is changing this land so they can know true love.

It's so awesome to hear about all that the Father is doing there!!! And all that He's doing in and through you both as well! It is so encouraging and the boldness you share is so contagious... keep it up! :)
