Baan Thaa Village Farewell

After almost three years of working in Baan Thaa Village, we have closed down our work in this place.  We know the Father is moving us to another area within the city.  Lots of feelings, emotions, and anxiety have surrounded us during this time, but we are confident that HE is still at work in this village and will continue to speak to the people here even though we will not be coming anymore.  Our hearts are heavy and still remain in Baan Thaa.  We are so grateful that He allowed us to share with the people of that village and plant many seeds as well.

On our final night, we had a little farewell party.  We played games, worshipped together, and had a lesson on how to read the Word.  K also joined us for the evening, which is rare due to mosquito season being in full swing.  Many people are coming down with Dengue Fever right now, so we aren’t chancing it with him.

We played a silly game which is like musical chairs, but with powder.  Basically when the music stops if you are the person holding the baby powder you get to choose someone to put it on.  They love that game!  We play it often.

After games, we sang together and then gathered together for our final lesson.  We distributed the Word to anyone who had not received one.  Five of the people in attendance had never seen or read the Word before.  It was an honor to give them their first copy.  J took care of K, so L could teach the lesson on what the Word is and how to read it.  It was neat to watch them learn how it is organized and how to look things up.  We also gave them a daily devotional book, so L did the first day with them to explain how to have a quiet time with the Father.  We saw many exciting faces.  Even though 99% of the people at the group do not yet believe, they were still excited to learn how to learn more on their own.  It was important to us to equip them with the necessary tools to further their understanding of the good news even after our departure.

We closed out the night with a final meal together.  We provided grilled chicken, fruit, sticky rice, brownies, and drinks.  They always beg for the brownies.

Right before we headed out the kids sang us a song they had prepared for us.  The song is very popular in this culture and talks about a bond between two people.  It was really nice. 

We have been blessed to meet the people of Baan Thaa and it has been a complete honor and joy to share the Word with them each week!  We know the Father has BIG plans for these people and we can’t wait to see how He reveals it.  Please continue to lift them up.
