Day 29

For our work visa, we have been teaching at Baan Thaa Village School on Tuesday mornings since we moved here over a year ago. Our day begins at 8am with the Kindergarten and First Graders. Each hour we switch grades and teach K-6. Because there are only 40 students K-6th, they combine grades.  K and 1st are together, 2nd and 3rd, and then 4-6th are a class.  This makes it challenging for the teachers to cover all the curriculum needed for the individual students. 

While we are at the school, we teach each class for an hour time period.  We break the timeframe into two thirty minute time segments.  The first 30 minutes we teach English and the last half we teach a new story from the Word.  All the students are Budd., but they enjoy learning new stories.  The younger children are still a little confused about what we are teaching because they have never heard of the Word before.  The older children are beginning to understand however, but still don’t ask many questions.  We finish teaching around noon.  Each Tuesday afternoon after we leave, the students are required to go to the temple that is connected to the school to learn more about Budd. from the monks.  They do this each week.  We are so happy that we can teach them the Word first, but because of this requirement we know how difficult our task is as well.

Ask for a spirit of understanding when we share the stories from the Word with the students.  Ask that more of the students we teach we would also come to our Tuesday night study group as well and that they would come weekly.  Ask that despite their age, the Father would stir in their hearts a sincere passion to learn about Him and His love for them.
