In order to keep us from burning out and becoming exhausted, we decided that once a month we are going to be tourists in our new home.  There are so many amazing things to see and do here that if we don’t take some down time to experience them we will miss our opportunity.  So once a month, we will go to a new tourist attraction to visit and enjoy.  We are looking forward to being an American at least once a month!  That means L can wear shorts, which will be great for her in this really hot weather!

A hyena greeted us we walked in, so J decided to pet it.  He almost lost a finger, but thankfully it had a muzzle on!

This month we headed to the Night Safari.  It is basically a zoo, but you go in the late afternoon and stay throughout the evening.  Remember how many times you have been to the zoo and all the animals are sleeping?  Well, the Night Safari allows you to see the animals at night when all the animals are supposed to be more active.  What an amazing concept!  The only bad part is you don't exactly get the best pictures at night.

We headed down the walking path to see all the daytime animals and enjoyed lots of monkeys, turtles, reptiles, and a few tigers.  I think the most obnoxious animal was the peacock.  It was so loud and followed us around all night since it wasn’t caged in!

After the walking path, we boarded the night tram cars for our first tour.  We traveled around the park on a safari car learning about animals as they shined lights on all of them.  It was really neat because all the animals were actually awake!  We had 2 different tours traveling around looking at animals depending on what part of the world they came from.  It was fun to see the zebras and we almost got to touch one!  It walked right up to the tram since it wasn’t fenced in either.

We concluded the night with a lazer light show over the lake in the park.  It was really pretty and relaxing.  I am sure this park will be one we visit several times while we are here!
