Entrance to the village

Our new team headed out to our new village this past Tuesday.  Our team consists of the two of us and our national partner, Sun.  She is so crucial to our work as she is fluent in English, and the two dialects of our country.  She also understands the culture here in a way we never can since we are not from this culture.  We appreciate having her partner with us each week.  The three of us arrived at the village home we were invited to return to from the visit the previous week.  Unsure of who, if any, would come to the group, we came prepared to share some English words and a story from the Word.  The father brought 17 middle school and high school-aged kids as well as 3 adults to hear our stories.  It was great!  Many of the children and adults were unsure of what we really were going to do, so we think most of them came to just check it out, but that is okay!

The night was a huge success.  We began by introducing ourselves in English and in the national language.  The kids and adults enjoyed trying to share their names and favorite free time activities in English with us.  J gave his testimony and a story from their culture that he was able to tie into his life.  We sang some songs and then went into the lesson.  L made some English vocabulary words from the creation story and taught the story in English using a felt board.  Then, Sun retold the story in their heart language and spent some time doing question and answers.  We wrapped the night up with sharing some requests and offering them to the Father.  We challenged each person to share the story this week with someone who didn’t come.  We can’t wait to follow up with them and see who was brave enough to share the story!  We, of course, committed to share the story as well.  We will continue to work at this home each Tuesday night.  Our desire is for this village to know the love of the Father in a mighty way!
