Campus Living

We had an exciting weekend. We won the 12-minute walk/run competition. Well, technically it wasn't a competion, but we won it nonetheless. I am the reigning champ for the boys with 33 laps around the gym, L completed 30, which was the best for the girls. Most people just showed up to walk, but our competitiveness took over and we lapped the walkers dozens of times. The object is to improve in December, when we take the test again. Let's see if we can finish on top!

In a community like we live in, illness spreads rapidly. L started the cough, but by the end of the day several people were beginning to exhibit the same symptoms. We just hope she gets better and no one carries the flu here. So remember to lift her up as she fights this bug off.

We thought we would share a few photos with you all. These are our friends.  Since we are living in a community, we have made friends from all over the world and with people of all ages.  It is cool to get to know their story and make lasting friendships.

On Saturday, we had a chili-supper party with our friends.  Each of us contributed to the supper.  They knew we couldn't cook (not because we lacked the facilities, but because we CAN'T cook), so we provided crackers and coke.  The chili was excellent and we were taught new ways to eat it (like they do in the South).  Since we all are downsizing, it was fun to work in the small kitchenette as a community to provide dinner for a small group.

This is our great room.  It is simple, but provides an area for all of the families to hang out.  It serves as a living room and game room, but it also can be converted to a large dining room.

Sorry if we don't post very often.  We have been crazy busy.  So far, this whole week has been spent in the classroom and when we aren't in the classroom we are either working out, doing homework, or eating.  This week our team (The Recreation Team)  has had several activities.  We will even be babysitting on Thursday with possibly all of the kids here.

Today was nearly 80 degrees and the rest of the week is looking nice.  It is hard to believe that last week it was in the 30's and rainy.  Thank you all for your continued support.  Just remember L as she fights this cold.

Thanks for the update. Somehow I knew you wouldn't settle for mere walking!! You both are such an inspiration in so many ways! Keep up being such good role models in many areas of your life! We are so very proud of you. Hope you are feeling better!

Hope you're feeling better, L! I love how you guys can turn anything into a competition (I'm totally the same way!). With you guys as recreation leaders, the whole campus will be in tip-top shape by December. :) It's awesome that you're making such great connections and friendships. And I'm dying to know how they eat chili in the South... please share! :)

Missing you guys and lifting you up...
