Back Home!

After our wonderful three months in the States, we finally made it back home.  The journey was supposed to be a simple 24-hour trip, but it turned into a 50-hour epic. 
With twelve suitcases (mostly Kaiden’s stuff), six carry-ons (mostly Kaiden’s stuff), a car seat (Kaiden’s), stroller (Kaiden’s), and baby (Kaiden), we were overburdened travelers longing for home.

We missed our flight in Chicago, which forced us to spend the night in the Windy City.   In fact, it was windy, snowy and very cold.  After our final night in the U.S., we caused a little delay in the security line at the airport (the car seat and stroller could not fit through the x-ray machine, so they had to be hand searched…which somehow triggered an alarm, so a supervisor came and hand-searched the car seat and Leslie).

At the gate, a Korean Airline flight attended saw that we had six carry-ons and asked if we would like to gate-check any bags to our final destination.  We were thrilled to get rid of two of our biggest backpacks to lighten our load. 
Our flight to Korea was a mere 14 hours.  Kaiden did awesome!  He only cried once and slept almost the entire trip.  Our last leg was a 6-hour flight.  Kaiden again did remarkably well.  He cried once and a flight attendant offered to take him to console him.

We arrived in CM a little late.  We were the last to disembark the plane, so our greeting party had to wait a little longer.  We were greeted by six of colleagues, but we were not greeted with our luggage (our two gags that were gate checked and stroller did make it).  Our luggage was stuck in Seoul and would eventually arrive 24 hours later.


We are now home, trying to get over jet lag and change the sleeping schedule of a two-month old baby.  We have been very unproductive, but are almost all unpacked (though we still don’t have any groceries).
