Being Upheld: What is big, hairy, and cuddly?

Last weekend we were invited to go to the Elephant Camp just outside the city with our friend Noi, who works at the office with J. We hadn’t been yet, so we were eager to go.

Elephants are one of the things that our home is most famous for. J talks about them all the time and every time we see them on the side of the road we are always in disbelief. It seems to be something that we can’t get used to. There is something unique about a 2 ton animal strolling down the main street of the city and no one seeming to notice or think odd except us and all the other foreigners of the city.

Once we arrived at the camp, we took some pictures with the elephants and let them wrap their trunks around us. To be honest, they are quite gross. We both received a gift from the elephant’s trunk during our picture with it. Needless to say, we had to wash our clothes once we got home.

After our pictures, we grabbed some seats for the elephant show. During the show, the elephants did all kinds of things. They played soccer, built a wall of huge logs, played hula hoop, painted a picture, threw darts, and did a great job of keeping us entertained. It is just amazing that these animals are able to learn how to do these things. J has decided we need one as a pet! I’m not sure it will fit in our apartment though!
